Natrona County Library Announces Changes to Hours and Services

CASPER, WY - The Natrona County Library is making several changes to align its services and operating hours with available funding and staffing.

A vacant position in the Children’s Department will remain unfilled, and no additional staff positions will be added at this time. To reflect current staffing capacity, the Library will remain closed on Sundays year-round beginning September 8, 2026. Monday through Saturday hours will continue to follow the Library’s seasonal schedule.

Public notary services will be discontinued effective Monday, August 3, 2026. The Library expanded its public notary services several years ago as an added convenience to the community. However, because notary assistance is not a core library service and requires significant staff time, the Library can no longer sustain the service without affecting its ability to deliver core library services and patron assistance.

“These changes will help us better align our services and operating hours with our mission and the resources available to us,” said Lisa Scroggins, Executive Director of the Natrona County Library. “We remain committed to providing high-quality library resources, programs, and services to the Natrona County community.”

The Library will continue to evaluate its services and operations to ensure staff resources are used effectively and directed toward the areas of greatest community need.
