Wyoming First Wives Exhibit at Historic Bishop Home

During the month of August, the Historic Bishop Home will display 30 dolls dressed to replicate the inaugural gowns of Wyoming First Wives. The collection is loaned to the home from the Wyoming State Museum. The project to dress each of the dolls in their authenticate gowns was completed by the Capitol Women Volunteers during Governor Mike Sullivan’s term. First Lady Jane Sullivan’s replicated gown is part of the display. Lynn Lockhart, wife of former Natrona County Senator Tom Lockhart was part of the group and recreated the dresses for Wyoming First Ladies, Nancy Freudenthal and Carol Mead In addition to the display, the Bishop Home’s coordinator and curator, Andrew Wayland, researched each of the first wives and their contribution to the state. The display also includes a special exhibit on the 150 Anniversary of the suffragette movement in Wyoming
