CANSTRUCTION 2017

Q. What is Canstruction?
A. A local community event where teams create structures from cans of food. Once the event is complete all cans are donated to Wyoming Food for Thought Project.

Q. What makes up a team?
A. Teams can be school groups, friends, church groups, businesses, or organizations. Just get a group of people together and work on making a Canstructure!

Q. How does this work?
A. Pick your team. Then decide what you would like to build. Your structure can be a simple shape on the floor, or a complex build representing a shape, person, place, or thing. You can work with an architect if you like but that’s up to each team. Architects or designers can help you create computer based models which can give you direction on how many cans you need, what type or color of cans, etc.

Q. Can we paint the cans?
A. No. You must utilize the color of the label on the cans to create the effect you are looking for. However you may use other structural items like wood, cardboard, or tape to help hold you structure in place.

Q. What is the timeline?
A. Once you register your team here: https://tinyurl.com/caspercan
You may begin sourcing cans, designing, and even building. You must have your structure ready for judging by the end of the day on April 27th. Each team will find a place to build their structure. This could be a classroom, lobby, or church. After the judging on April 28th, you may leave your structure up for as long as you would like but you are responsible for tearing down your structure and delivering the cans to Wyoming Food for Thought Project’s program center, located at 900 Saint John Street.
